CALLED TO SOLIDARITY: CHALLENGING THE CORPORATE-SECURITY STATE SPEAKING TOUR
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 7:00 PM
Delnor Auditorium, The Conservancy of Southwest Florida, 1450 Merrihue Drive, Naples, FL 34102
Join us for Called to Solidarity: Challenging the Corporate-Security State, a statewide speaking tour focused on making the connections between poor peoples’ movements and campaigns here in the U.S., the practice of solidarity, and the political consequences of standing with those on the underside of corporate globalization and its military backers. The featured speakers are Romeo Ramirez of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and Dave Robinson, national coordinator of Pax Christi USA, the national Catholic peace and justice movement. The speakers will draw on their own experiences, including the work of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and the Taco Bell Boycott, and discuss current U.S. economic and national security policies (FTAA, the war in Iraq, Patriot Act, et. al.), the leadership of communities of color and the poor, and how religious institutions, civic organizations, and others are called to a “globalization of solidarity.” Free and open to the public.
