HUMAN SHIELD FAITH FIPPINGER REPORTS BACK FROM IRAQ
Everyone is invited to hear Faith Fippinger share her experiences about the bombing of Iraq. A retired teacher of blind children, she went to Iraq and put herself in the path of U.S. missiles, on purpose, as a human shield. Stationed just south of Baghdad at the Daura oil refinery, which included a community of 400 homes with a nursery, school, and clinic, she saw the Iraq war up close in her community and while volunteering in the hospitals. The U.S. Treasury Department sent her a letter saying she faces up to 12 years in prison and $1-million in fines for violating sanctions against travel and commerce to Iraq. The fine is closer to $10,000, and she refuses to pay. Everyone is welcome to hear her speak about the human cost of war on Iraq.
