We expect people to behave because they fear being caught by the all-seeing eye. But the all-seeing eye in the sky is a lie. And it's not a good foundation for moral principles and good behavior. In fact, the photograph of the fully engaged deputy is a lie because it insinuates that the surveillance cameras are attended to all the time. Cameras sure save money though--taking it out of the public's pockets and putting it into the security business's bank accounts. First they told me Santa was watching me all the time. Then they told me God was watching me all the time. Now they tell me deputies and principals and private investigators are watching me all the time.
